Runesaber - Heavy Metal Band from San Diego, CA

Runesaber was founded in 2024 by guitarist Shaynie Rhoads. She met Ian Bassett while applying to SDSU for grad school, initially as his student as she prepared for her audition into the Master’s of Music program. Upon their first meeting, they instantly bonded over their love for heavy metal and classical guitar.

When Shaynie began writing music for a new project she'd started, she asked Ian if he might be interested in joining. He offered to fill in until she found someone more permanent, but as Shaynie's writing process became more closely intertwined with his leads– reinforced by their shared background in classical music— he became a crucial element to the conception of the band.

Runesaber’s debut EP, “Mystic’s Vision,” takes listeners on an epic quest through a world full of magic, mystical creatures and an everlasting battle between good and evil. Their main influences include 80’s thrash, melodic death metal and Viking/folk metal.
